Am I Addicted to Drugs or Alcohol?

A question you may find yourself asking, or may hear others asking you. You don’t need to hit rock bottom to realize you have a problem that needs to be addressed. Addiction affects everyone – no matter your income, social status, race, religion – every one of us is susceptible to becoming addicted. Recognizing addiction in ourselves may not be easy to do, so why don’t we start with this self-assessment quiz.

  4. Has anyone objected to your drinking or drug use? Or has your family, friend, or anyone else ever told you they objected to alcohol or drug use in general?

  5. Have you ever found yourself preoccupied with wanting to use alcohol or drugs? Or have you found yourself thinking a lot about drinking or using?

  6. Have you ever used alcohol or drugs to relieve emotional discomforts, such as sadness, anger, or boredom?
