State Certified Program for Substance Abuse
We can help. Recovering from drug and alcohol abuse starts with a heartfelt desire to regain your life. It finds success with experienced treatment and committed support.
A seven month, state-certified program, Family Life Center’s intensive outpatient treatment is for individuals suffering from dependence on a mood-altering substance. Our plan is built on the 12-step model used by Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous.
A recent study conducted by Texas Christian University identified two strong predictors for substance abuse treatment success:
- The first predictor is the counselor’s connection with the client
- The second is a strong educational component for the program
At Family Life Center, we focus on these predictors to provide the strongest possible strategy for success.
Each counselor is hired based on their demonstrated ability to connect with clients, communicate effectively, and support individual goals for recovery. Counselors employed at Family Life Center have all earned the appropriate state certification and have the educational background dictated by the Alabama Department of Mental Health.
When it comes to the instruction, a state-of-the-art education system with interactive presentations is employed in a group setting to help our clients gain the information needed to participate successfully.
When a client is referred to Family Life Center, a counselor conducts a comprehensive assessment using the ASAM -the state mandated assessment- to determine the appropriate treatment placement and severity of addiction. An individual treatment plan is derived from the assessment and clients are continuously assessed during treatment to determine if progress is being made or adjustments are necessary.
We believe that if we have helped our clients become active members of their local self-help group, we have achieved our goal.
